Special Olympics!

June 26, 2009

We received wonderful news this week... Miri will be riding in the Special Olympics in Raleigh in July! She's been riding at Shining Hope Farms for about 2 years now- but because we live in Mecklenberg county- Miri will be riding in the S.O with another farm- Lifespan. She had her first lesson this week! We'll keep you tuned!

Excited about "No"

June 24, 2009

How do you respond when you receive a "No" from the Lord? I had been praying about joining a dear friend on a mission and as we prayed for the Lord's will to be revealed- I REALLY wanted to hear a "Go". I heard "No". Sigh.

I then sensed from the Lord that I should be just as excited about the "No". Why? Because His "No" is His glorious will for my life! It's a part of His perfect plan which is for my good and His glory! Amen?

1 Thessalonians 5:18

...give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Expecting Great Things

June 20, 2009

I am asking the Lord for big things this weekend...for an answer, for provision if He says 'yes' and the strength to obey!

Will you be so kind as to pray with me? Bless you :).

Romans 8:32 (New International Version)

32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Ephesians 3:20 (Amplified Bible)

20Now to Him Who, by the power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]--

Honoring their wishes

June 19, 2009

I was just informed that the babies home in Uganda requests that no pictures of their babies be posted on blogs until the adoptions are complete. To honor their request- I am removing the pics for now. Please continue to pray for Shawnda and Jason!

Quotes

June 17, 2009

I love quotes. I need Truth! I going to endeavor to get back to posting at least a quote a week so we can have a 'little bit of Truth' to hopefully apply to a 'little bit of life'!

Today's quote comes from John Piper-

“When we pray, we say Amen to God through Christ, because God has said Amen to all his promises in Christ. Prayer is the confident plea for God to make good on his promises of future grace for Christ’s sake. Prayer links our faith in future grace with the foundation of it all, Jesus Christ.”

Let us pray!!

James 1

June 9, 2009

We are studying the book of James as a church and we just finished James 1.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Last night our upstairs air conditioner unit decided it had worked long enough. It was about 90 degrees yesterday. Since it was 85 degrees upstairs last night we decided to all sleep downstairs- except for Taylor who cleverly situated a line of fans to draw the cool air into his room :). Count it all joy? Lord may it be so!
Miri was so excited to sleep under the dining room table :).

Taylor set the 2 big fans at the bottom of the stairs
and the 2 smaller fans facing his room :)

Jon and Mocha took the front room and
Bill and I the family room.

We found out today that the breaker over heated.
We're praying it's not the compressor :). James 1!

Rescuing Invisible Children

June 6, 2009

Today our friends Jason and Shawnda head to Uganda! They are making their first of 3 trips- this being the most exciting for they get to select their child or children they will ultimately adopt. They covet your prayers! This is a dream come true for them. They have sought to raise awareness regarding the Invisible Children of Uganda for many years. If you haven't seen the documentary- Invisible Children- I would highly recommend it. It is not for the fainthearted. The horrors contained are what have moved many to action... many like Jason and Shawnda. Please pray!! The video below is just a preview to the documentary. “Revival is Jesus bringing the fulness of His life into the emptiness of ours. For every lack in us there is a corresponding grace in Him. He is light for our darkness, life for our death, bread for our hunger, living water for our thirst, rest for our striving, wisdom of God for our foolishness and fellowship for our loneliness.”

- Stanley Voke, Personal Revival ( Waynesboro, Ga.: OM Literature, nd), 67.
